Join DSbD’s Prof. John Goodacre, DSbD Challenge Director, as he takes the stage at Infosecurity Europe 2024 on Tuesday 4 June, at 11:55 am.

John will be sharing an enlightening talk on ‘The transition from reactive to proactive,’ where he will delve into digital security being embedded at the foundations of design and changes in the way we develop future software and hardware. In this session the focus will be on:

  • Progress for the Digital Security by Design (DSbD) initiative and CHERI Capability Hardware Enhanced RISC Instructions – Collaboration between academia, industry and government.
  • How is legislation contributing – The international Governments response.
  • Business justification – Demonstrating the financial benefits for investment.

Prof. John Goodacre

Director, Digital Security by Design

John is Professor of Computer Architectures at the Department of Computer Science, The University of Manchester in the UK having previously spent 17 years with Arm as the Director of Technology and Systems where he defined and introduced the first multicore processors and other widely deployed technologies. He is also appointed by UK government’s Research & Innovation agency as the Director of the Digital Security by Design, a £200M programme to enable industry and researchers to create a step change in approach to cybersecurity, blocking vulnerabilities by design and protecting the operation and data by default. His research interest includes new processing paradigms, web-scale servers, exascale efficient systems and secure and ubiquitous computing.
