It’s been a very busy time of the year for the DSbD team who were involved in five cybersecurity flagship events around the Country, and gathered with the wider ecosystem community in Wolverhampton for its “All Hands” event, sharing projects, ideas and taking part in workshops on 11th October.
Digital Government 2022
On 19th October we were delighted to be invited to speak at the Digital Government Northern Ireland Conference 2022. Nuala Kilmartin, Innovation Lead for DSbD spoke to over 200 attendees in Belfast about Digital Security by Design and how the programme is transforming technology to create a more resilient secure future. The event themes included building resilient organisations; Emerging technologies and Identifying cyber threats for public sector organisations. The DSbD presentation provided an insight into the past, present and importance of securing the future by fixing the foundations. There was keen interest from many Government organisations who are interested in following up and learning more and when may be the right time for them to get engaged.
IoT Security Foundation
It was great to have the opportunity to speak and exhibit at the IoT Security Foundation on 5th October. Despite rail strikes around the Country nearly 200 people gathered for the Key Note delivered by John Moor (MD IOT SF). Professor John Goodacre, and Peter Davies (Thales), followed with an excellent panel session hosted by Professor Carsten Maple with Nick Allott (Nquiring Minds) and Daryl Flack (BEIS) joining for questions. All attendees gave an excellent positioning for the importance of DSbD technology in creating a more secure, safe and resilient future. There was a real buzz in the audience who followed up with interest at the DSbD exhibition stand.
High Integrity Software Conference
On 11th October we were delighted to be invited to speak at the HIS Conference 2022. Professor John Goodacre spoke to over 200 attendees about the importance of securing the future by fixing the foundations. There was keen interest from a highly engaged technical audience who once again were excited by the real change DSbD technology can bring to them and their businesses. Full presentation here.
International Cyber Expo
On 26th September the DSbD TAP Team had a booth presence at this industry-leading cybersecurity event at Olympia, London where it showcased the Arm’s Morello evaluation board demonstrator created by Digital Catapult to help the public experience the technology first-hand and ask questions to technologists on stand.
Paul Ceely, Director of Digital Strategy at Digital Catapult chaired a roundtable discussion around the topic “Security in Telecoms Networks Virtualisation/Cloudification – Challenges and Opportunities” attended by senior CISO’s from companies such as Vonage, Google, Lebara and Huawei.
Digital Security by Design All Hands
On 12th October the DSbD ecosystem of partners, TAP companies, government and academia gathered in Wolverhampton for a 1-day networking and learning event, the DSbD All Hands. Over 200 guests from all over the UK participated at showcase sessions on current DSbD projects and a series of afternoon workshops to share knowledge, ideas and challenges.
Dana Elman, Innovation Partner and Programme Lead from Digital Catapult introduced the Technology Access Programme that Digital Catapult is running for Digital Security by Design highlighting its role to facilitate the experimentation of this new, game-changing technology to improve computer security.
Shariar Rajib, Data Systems Advisor at Cedyr Labs, one of the TAP companies commented: “Overall the event provided an excellent networking opportunity to meet the broader DSbD community. Seeing some of the advanced use cases of the Morello/CHERI allowed me to get a better perspective on how to approach our project. The workshop conducted by Konrad was particularly beneficial to me as it accelerated the learning required for porting software to CheriBSD“.
Adrian Fern, CTO, Prizsm Technologies Ltd. added: “Attending the Digital Security by Design All Hands event was a great opportunity to meet stakeholders and get a big-picture-overview of the research and development being undertaken. As a new member of the ecosystem, it was both refreshing and encouraging to speak with so many open, honest, and welcoming industry, academic, and government DSbD partners. I look forward to working with Morello & CHERI knowing the strength and breadth of experience, expertise, and support that can be sourced from within this community”.
DSbD goes to Australia
UKRI took a delegation of experts to Australia for an international mission to explore the potential for new partnerships and business collaboration across a rapidly evolving cyber security environment. The UK delegation held meetings and round-table discussions throughout the week of 10th October with Australia’s cyber ecosystem including government departments, businesses, and investment accelerators. Digital Security by Design was represented by Georgios Papadakis, Senior Innovation Lead, and joined by DCMS, PETRAS and UK business delegates.
